PRIVACY POLICY: HOW WE HANDLE YOUR DATA

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from dirttea.ca (the “Site”).

THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT When you hang out on our Site, we automatically grab certain details about your device—like your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of those "cookies" that make the internet work. As you browse, we see which tea blends you’re eyeing and how you found us (search terms, social media, etc.). We call this “Device Information.”

We collect this using the usual tech:

  • Cookies: Small data files that live on your device. You can disable them, but the Site might get a bit "clumpy."

  • Log Files: These track actions on the Site so we can see how things are running.

  • Web Beacons, Tags, and Pixels: Electronic files used to record how you navigate our garden of products.

Additionally, when you make a purchase (or attempt to), we collect your name, billing address, shipping address, payment info (including credit card numbers), email, and phone number. This is your “Order Information.”

HOW DO WE USE YOUR DATA? We use your Order Information to do the important stuff:

  • Fulfill your orders (processing payments, shipping your tea, and sending invoices).

  • Chat with you about your order.

  • Screen for potential risk or fraud.

  • If you’ve opted-in, we’ll send you "dirty" jokes, gardening tips, and info about our new tea blends.

We use the Device Information to help us keep the Site safe from fraud and to optimize the experience—basically making sure the Site is as easy to use as our tea bags.

SHARING YOUR INFORMATION We share your Personal Information with third parties who help us help you.

  • Shopify: Powers our store. You can read their privacy legalities here.

  • Google Analytics: Helps us understand how people use the Site. You can opt-out here.

Finally, we may share your info to comply with laws, respond to a lawful request (like a subpoena), or protect our rights.

BEHAVIOURAL ADVERTISING We use your info to provide targeted ads we think you’ll actually like. You can opt-out of these "stalker" ads here:

DO NOT TRACK Just a heads up: we don’t change our data collection practices when we see a "Do Not Track" signal from your browser.

YOUR RIGHTS If you are a European resident, you have the right to access the info we hold about you or ask us to delete it. Just shoot us an email. (Please note your info will be transferred outside of Europe to Canada and the U.S. to fulfill your orders).

DATA RETENTION When you place an order, we keep your Order Information for our records unless you ask us to scrub it.

CHANGES We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in how we do things or for legal reasons. Check back whenever you're feeling curious.
